The Journal of Public Relations Research publishes scholarship that creates, tests, or expands public relations theory. Manuscripts may examine why organizations practice public relations as they do and how public relations can be conducted more effectively; analysis of the publics of public relations; scholarly criticism of public relations practice; and development of the history, ethics, or philosophy of public relations. Because of the wide range of influences on and effects of public relations, interdisciplinary research is particularly encouraged. Two kinds of articles can be submitted: reviews of major programs of research (20-60 double-spaced manuscript pages) and reports of original research (approximately 20 double-spaced manuscript pages). All methodologies are appropriate, including critical, historical, legal, philosophical, and social scientific.
